Warehouse Shift Supervisor (m/f)

Our client MAERSK, one of the world’s largest port and terminal operators based in the Netherlands, has signed a new concession agreement for the container terminal Zagrebačka Obala; Port of Rijeka. This is the largest project in the history of the Port of Rijeka, both in terms of importance and value, significantly expanding the port operations and logistics business of Rijeka and Croatia.

Currently, they are looking to build their team in Croatia and hire an ambitious and motivated individual in the position of:

Warehouse Shift Supervisor (m/f)

Location: Rijeka


  • Supervise the running of a safe and efficient operation on site
  • Working within clear guidelines to help achieve defined outcomes for the site and the customers
  • Implement actions as directed to reduce or eliminate health and safety related risks (apply safety standards, report, and investigate incidents etc.)
  • Continuously contribute to the improvement of procedures to better achieve the prescribed outputs
  • Participate in customer, regulatory and internal operational audits as required and work with the team to implement the action plan
  • Respond to or escalate customer issues within clear guidelines and recommend solutions
  • Support management with resource planning e.g., implement agreed processes to review performance, monitor absence and sickness, identify training and qualification gaps
  • Monitor performance of people, equipment and processes and highlight to management areas for improvement (supervise KPIs, implement reporting processes and corrective actions)
  • Support the environmental agenda and continuous improvement activities to increase environmental efficiency


  • Previous experience in warehouse operations and/or distribution is a must
  • Strong operational warehouse supervision skills and good understanding of WMS
  • Well-developed people management skills and ability to lead, direct and motivate across the whole department
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively build and maintain relationships at all levels (customer, management, operations)
  • A proactive person with strong conflict management, and problem resolution skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office usage
  • Fluency in written and spoken English language
