Japan Tobacco International awarded the Employer Partner certificate

Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has, for the seventh time in a row, become an Employer Partner certificate holder. Having achieved high results in each of the assessed areas, JTI confirmed that they nurture a partnership approach to their employees and found themselves as one of the most desirable employers in Croatia.

In order to become an Employer Partner, a company needs to undergo an independent evaluation of its HRM processes in five major areas related to strategy, recruitment and selection processes, performance management, employee training, and the company’s relations with its employees. During the certification process, JTI particularly stood out with the efforts they take to care for their employees and create a comfortable working atmosphere. For example, JTI offers their employees several forms of flexible work arrangements, such as flextime and working from home. Also, the company provides employees and their family members with private health insurance as well as other additional benefits.

The company pays special attention to the development of its employees, so in the past year all employees underwent some form of additional training. JTI also places great emphasis on encouraging employee ideas, and therefore the company has a systematic program of keeping track of employee suggestions. An employee who has an idea can get a budget for the implementation of the idea, as well as mentorship, if he or she is not an expert in the field that his or her idea is from, as well as support from other sectors.

Zoran Kosijer, manager of the People and Culture department for the Adriatica region, received the Employer Partner certificate from Aleksandar Zemunić, Member of the Management Board of SELECTIO, and stated: The results we achieved are still very high, even though the criteria is continuously raised. We are particularly proud of our results in the areas of Training and Development and Employee Relations, as that is crucial for the successful development of a company. The Make It Bright internship challenge that we will soon organize for Croatian college students is a great example of how JTI invests in young professionals as well, giving them a chance to start a career in the international environment of a company that is one of the best employers in the region and the world.
