Active role of HR in change management: HR slalom or HR rock’n’roll?
Can HR take an active role in change management or will it simply adjust to it? To what extent are HR managers involved in internal and external communications, especially in these turbulent times? How to correct first bad impressions of risky business moves? Answers to these questions will be presented to you by lecturers at the 8th SEE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT ARENA 2009 conference. The eighth annual conference on human resource management, organized by Infoarena and sponsored by MojPosao (general sponsor), SELECTIO and media sponsor Business.hr, will be held on October 20th-21st in Zagreb.
Four hot topics
In terms of many global changes which are inevitably affecting local businesses as well, Human Resource Management Arena 2009 provides numerous presentations, round table discussions and parallel lectures which will be divided into four main topics:
- HR and leadership
- Company reputation management in times of unpopular measures and changes
- Talent management
- Rewarding as motivation and money saving tool
These very important topics have been given greater importance in our region at the beginning of the 21st century, when it became clear that people are the main carriers of business success, competitiveness, change adjustment as well as globalization. Prior to that, attention was mostly paid to technology and its usability, whereas today employees’ needs are in the main focus because employees are a source of new values.
Cooperation among departments
With a goal of becoming modernized, the role of ”personnel department” which once was expected to ”just carry out” given processes has changed. Nowadays, human resource management departments have greater importance; they need to participate in making key business decisions, contribute to change management and achieve clearly defined business goals. Moreover, they need to know how to present business goals and tactics to employees, enable knowledge gain, as well as encourage each employee to actively contribute to achieving strategic business goals. Therefore, human resource experts today need to be specialists and generalists with good understanding of overall business.
